On Sunday, January 26 we lost a legend and a legacy Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. Kobe was one of the nine people who died on that helicopter in Calabasas with his daughter beside him. It was a normal day with his daughter going to play a basketball game at the Mamba sports academy in Thousand Oaks, California. He had an all girl’s basketball team with players from Boise, Idaho. The team lost against the Mambas but were invited to play again. This was a very sad and tragic event that took place. NBA stars, fans, family and friends were very emotional of the lives that we lost. It touched home even if you didn’t know them personally. As we mourn, we have to think that life is super short and can go in the blink of an eye. This death hit home. Flags in Los Angeles were lowered to honor the great Kobe and the rest of the victims that were on that helicopter including his beloved daughter. So many people and celebrities had a lot of good things to say about Kobe. Words from Mayor Eric Garcetti, “Kobe Bryant was a giant who inspired, amazed, and thrilled people everywhere with his incomparable skill on the court — and awed us with his intellect and humility as a father, husband, creative genius, and an ambassador for the game he loved. He will live forever in the heart of Los Angeles and will be remembered through the ages as one of our greatest heroes. This is a moment that leaves us struggling to find words that express the magnitude of shock and sorrow we are all feeling right now, and I am keeping Kobe's entire family in my prayers at this time of unimaginable grief." He is the goat for a reason and will always remain the goat in our hearts. He gave us something in the NBA that no one else will give us. He leaves a legacy behind and great memories.
