Starting the new year already going into war with Iran thanks to President Trump there has been a lot of things said politically and many emotions rising even from our celebrities. Earlier this week, Meek Mill had posted on his Twitter saying “One time for the soldiers that gotta go to war and put ya life on the line .... we from the trenches so we know the feeling of having ya life on the line 24/7 not knowing if you gonna make it home!”. Understanding his statement, others like DJ Akademiks didn’t take it kindly. He stated on his YouTube channel saying, “This is pretty much the most self-indulgent, narcissistic tweet…Meek had to say that being in ‘the streets’ is like being in a war.”( Hiphopdx). Understanding his point, Akademiks thought it was too far fetch for the comparison. Men and women put their lives on the line to protect and serve this country. Although, being in the “trenches” and going to war willingly has similarities if you were raised in that type of environment than you understand where Meek was coming from. DJ Akademiks made very good points but does he understand?
