People residing in the Florida panhandle through the Carolinas and Virginia are reeling from the effects of Category 4 hurricane Michael which ravaged the regions over the past couple of days. It is reported that the storm has claimed 12 lives and that number is expected to rise as FEMA continues there rescuing efforts to find any bodies under the debris. Many people were told to evacuate and they did but others stayed behind and braced the storm which many hailed as one of the worst of this hurricane season. It is expected that aid will be distributed to these hard-hit areas but as we saw with hurricane Katrina it can take months and years to rebuild after devastating storms like this so as a nation we must show our unwavering support to the peoples of this region and hope that sooner rather than later things get back to normal.
