Gucci has finally cashed in on their promise to the culture of Hip Hop and released pieces to the Dapper Dan collection. Widely regarded as a fashion icon in an urban sense, the legendary Harlem figure will get his global praise due to him. In the beginning, the uphill battle included cease-and-desist orders from the likes of titans Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Pushing through, Dapper Dan continued to maneuver and after designing custom pieces for legends the likes of Mike Tyson, Diddy, Jay Z, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Camron and more Dapper Dan will be outfitting the world soon.
According to the writings on the wall of their first ever SoHo storefront collaboration, “In homage to the culturally rich artistic heritage of SoHo, Gucci is collaborating with icons that have transcended the passage of time and align with the Houses’ distributive spirit.”
