Lavish Life Magazine had the pleasure of attending the private media/press event to kick off the 2nd Annual Hip Hop Film Festival (August 3-6) with a night called, “Hip Hop and Chill”. This special event held at the CBS Radio Station, powered by 1010 Wins and beverage sponsor Harlem Brewing Company allowed for media and press to meet and greet. Esteemed media mix and mingled for network hour, while snacking on fresh popcorn and hard apple ciders. This event was highlighted by the private screening of Emmy Award Nominated Web Series, “Tough Love”. A New York based web series surrounding six black millennials searching for love, self-identity and all the struggles of juggling careers and relationships. From the creative minds of (married) duo Caleb Davis (Director and Executive Producer) and Roni Simpson (Writer and Producer). Tough Love showcases black love in a real way creating dialogue about the way in which it’s given and received. Here’s an interesting fact, all main character names are based off of black film cult classics like Love Jones, The Best Man, and Love & Basketball. The screening concluded with a live stream Q & A via Facebook curated by Sharon Barnes-Waters host of City Views. It’s plain as day that “Tough Love” Web Series is destined for greatness and not tough at all to love!
